Sanofi-Aventis plans to enter in the market of generic drugs

After recovering the leadership of the pharmaceutical Brazilian market in this year, the French laboratory Sanofi-Aventis begins to look at other business opportunities to support this phase of growth. One of them is to join the market of generic drugs, being the one that most grows in the country. "We have a plan in order to enter in this segment, that is very competitive", said the president of the Brazilian subsidiary of Sanofi-Aventis, Heraldo Marchezini.

The goal of the pharmaceutical company is to show growth rates above the average of the Brazilian market. In 2005, the laboratory computed sales of approximately R$2 billions, a rise of 11% on the previous year, while the market advanced 8%. In interview to Valor, Marchezini affirmed that the studies are under development and the laboratory studies the best alternatives.
