Boehringer Ingelheim shows again great growth in profitability in 2005

The pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim registered, in 2005, success in the rate of growth. The company announced this week at Ingelheim, in Germany, the growth of 17 % at net sale, that totalized 9.5 billions, before the 8.2 billions registered in 2004. The operational profit, comparable with the EBIT (profit before interest and taxes), was 40 % higher, registering 1.9 billion. Another favorable index was the increase in the number of employees in the world, which obtained an increase of approximately 5.3 %, in a total of 1.900 new employments, reaching the sum for 37.400 employees.

Boehringer Ingelheim Board of Directors’ president, responsible for the areas of Marketing and Sales, Dr Alessandro Banchi, said that the outcome of 2005 confirmed that Boehringer Ingelheim entered into the group of market-leading international pharmaceutical companies, not just as for growth of sales, but also in profitability. "We have had a satisfactory year in finances" the executive comments. The development of net sales of the group reflected positively in the results. Boehringer Ingelheim reached an operational return (operational profit in relation to the turnover) of 20.2%.
